I’m proud to serve as your voice in Harrisburg and have focused on improving the quality of life for residents of the 42nd Senatorial District and Pennsylvania at-large. From community revitalization and housing, to infrastructure and clean water, education, public safety and consumer protection, to economic development and workforce, my focus has remained on creating and protecting opportunities for every Pennsylvanian.

Community Revitalization & Housing

As a realtor by profession and a member of the Urban Affairs & Housing Committee, housing is a central pillar of my platform.

  • Affordable Housing: During my tenure in the Senate, I have secured millions in funding and tax credits for affordable rental housing projects and neighborhood stabilization.
  • Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP): As a strong advocate for NAP, I have been able to preserve a program that incentivizes businesses to invest in distressed communities for projects like crime prevention, job training, and food access.
  • Property Tax Relief: I have introduced legislation for senior property tax freezes and uniform property assessments to ensure fairness for homeowners.

Infrastructure & Clean Water

Infrastructure, including clean water, is vital to a healthy community. .

  • Lead Exposure: I have authored laws allowing municipal authorities to assist homeowners in replacing private lead water and sewer lines.
  • Water & Sewer Projects: I have consistently prioritized funding for “clean water” initiatives and the modernization of aging sewer systems.
  • Public Spaces: Advocating for the many communities in my district, I have been able to secure substantial funding to improve pedestrian safety and community parks.

Education & Student Welfare

I’m proud to currently serve as the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). Education is a vital part of supporting our residents and allowing them opportunities to grow and flourish in this community. And that work begins with early childhood and K-12 policy.

  • School Safety: Responding to needs that were raised in the district, I have authored legislation requiring carbon monoxide detectors and lead testing in schools.
  • Early Education: I am proud to have been a vocal advocate on behalf of young children, their families, and the early care and education professionals who interact with them.
  • Student Support: I continue to be a champion of the “Ready to Succeed” scholarship program, supported the “GROW PA” programs to encourage students to remain here, and have advocated for legislation to protect homeless and at-risk students’ educational stability.

Public Safety & Consumer Protection

As elected officials, protecting vulnerable populations from both physical and financial harm should always be a priority.

  • Child Protection: I’m proud to have drafted, advocated for, and voted for legislation ultimately signed into law that toughened child abuse reporting requirements for school personnel.
  • Gun Reform: As a proud member of the SAFE (Gun Reform) Caucus, I have introduced “Extreme Risk Protection Order” (Red Flag) legislation. I continue to advocate for common sense reforms that protect our community.
  • Consumer Rights: Too often, people in this community can become victims of predatory practices. While we can certainly provide education and heighten awareness, we must also take steps to protect them from any impact. It’s why I authored legislation allowing individuals to place a lifetime freeze on their credit and why I’ve fought against predatory marketing by the gaming industry.

Economic Development & Workforce

  • Job Growth: In order to be competitive and welcome jobs and opportunities for our residents to this region, we must work collectively to support readying sites, investing in infrastructure, and providing the tools necessary for us to revitalize former industrial communities through business assistance and other funding opportunities.
  • Small Business: Small businesses are the core of our economy in this region and across Pennsylvania. It’s why I’ve supported Main Street programs and introduced tax credit programs (like the Angel Investment Tax Credit) to encourage investment in new businesses and startups.
